OEEERC Programs:
Workers' Rights - Information and Support
The OEERC operates a “Workers’ Rights Information Line”, where workers can call and get information and support about a problem in their workplace. Workers’ are also invited to attend a “Workers’ Rights Clinic” where they will learn about and obtain educational materials on employments standards, and receive one-on-one further support with their workplace problem. The Workers’ Action Centre provides two trained staff to deliver these services. These services are multilingual – English, Tamil, Spanish, Hindi, Urdu and Gujarati.
Workers' Rights - Public Education
In association with the Workers’ Action Centre, the OEERC develops new educational resources on rights in the workplace (see our “Resources” page), as well as promotes and distributes these materials – and resources produced by other community organizations – to community organizations throughout Ontario.
Workers’ in Precarious Employment: Raising Community Awareness and Capacity
The OEERC is raising community awareness of issues facing low wage workers and workers in precarious employment through workshops, public presentations and media outlets. In addition, the OEERC is developing and exploring models of education and skills development to increase the capacity for civic engagement and self help amongst workers in low wage and precarious employment.
