Workers’ Rights – Information, Education & Referral
In association with the Workers’ Action Centre
Providing support to workers experiencing violations of their rights in the workplace, as well as workshops and clinics to educate workers on their employment rights.
- Each year, the Workers’ Rights Information Line (416-531-0778) helps over 1000 workers to understand their rights, and supports them with strategies to address violations of their rights in the workplace.
- Workshops on Rights in the Workplace: educational workshops on rights in the workplace are held at community agencies throughout the Greater Toronto Area. If your community agency is interested in hosting a workshop in your neighbourhood, please contact info@workersactioncentre.org.
- Educational Materials on Rights at Work: producing and distributing factsheets and booklets on rights in the workplace, with translations of many of the materials to reach out to newcomers, immigrants and racialized communities.
Empowering Domestic Workers, Live-in Caregivers and Other Temporary Foreign Workers
In association with the Caregivers Action Centre
A 12-month leadership training program with 10 live-in caregivers, to develop a network of Peer Leaders to provide support and legal information in the caregiver community.
Strengthening Neighbourhood Voices
In association with the Workers’ Action Centre
Building supports and developing community capacity to improve working conditions and knowledge of employment legislations for workers in the Toronto neighbourhoods of Rexdale, Scarborough and North York.
Workers’ Rights Education & Support for Migrant Workers
In association with Justicia for Migrant Workers
Educating migrant workers on their rights, and providing leadership training and support to assist migrant workers in developing their community capacity.
Raising Public Awareness of Issues Facing Low-wage & Precarious Workers
In association with the Workers’ Action Centre
Raising community awareness of issues facing workers in low-wage and precarious employment through public presentations, forums, conferences, community involvement and media.
